Re:            School Closure--Hurricane Matthew


The Hamilton County School District in conjunction with Hamilton County Emergency Management are working together for the most up to date predictions and safety recommendations concerning Hurricane Matthew in Hamilton County.

The Hamilton County School District and all public schools in Hamilton County will be closed at the completion of school Thursday, October 6, 2016. 

All after school activities will close at 5 pm on Thursday, October 6, 2016. 

There will be NO school Friday, October 7, 2016. 

The Hamilton County vs Madison County football game has been tentatively rescheduled for Saturday, October 8, at 4 pm, on the HCHS campus with gates opening at 3 pm.   Hurricane Matthew’s course and local impact on Friday night and Saturday morning can also impact the game arrangements.

Normal school operations will resume for all students and staff on Monday, October 10, 2016.  If there are any changes in the weather pattern that would impact school next week, we will update the community in a timely manner.

The safety and security of our students/staff is our first daily concern.  As Hurricane Matthew approaches, wind and rain are the major concerns for our students and busing transportation.
