FCAT TIPS

  • Have your child get a good night's sleep- at least 8-10 hours.
  • Encourage your child to do the best that he/she can, try to answer every question.
  • Eat a healthy, protein-based breakfast. Please try to avoid sugary choices.
  • Plan to be to school by 8:05 so the children do not have to be rushed.
Try to avoid any confrontation with your child(ren) in the morning. They are stressed and anxious already (just like you).
  • Go to bed a little earlier, wake up a little earlier, prepare everything the night before to avoid rushing and tardies in the morning
  • Reassure you child(ren) that they CAN succeed. Remind them to take their time and do their best.
  • Plan a "celebration" when testing ends.
  • Encourage your child(ren) to use the peppermints provided at school. Peppermint stimulates the brain and relaxes the stomach.
  • Read at least 30 minutes a day. This helps to build reading stamina when taking the FCAT.(This can be done ALL year long-including any breaks.)

FCAT Explorer

Students in grades 3-6 may access FCAT Explorer at home.  The website is www.fcatexplorer.com.  The log-in information was sent home with students earlier in the year.  If your student has forgotten the log-in information, there is a pattern.  The log-in is the last name and first initial.  The password is 24 the first four letters of the last name the two digit month of the birthday and the two digit day.  For example, here is the log-in info and password for Jane Smith who has a birthday on February 14.  If you continue to have problems, please email Mrs. Hendrick at hendrick_p@firn.edu.
