We congratulate these ladies and thank them for their hard work and dedication to our schools.
Community Helpers Visit Greenwood School Students
Greenwood School students received a visit from some very special community helpers on Wednesday, October 28th. Representatives from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department, Hamilton County Fire Department, and the Florida Division of Forestry were on hand to talk to our students about how they help our community. Smokey Bear even donated a mini "Smokey" to each class at Greenwood! We thank them for taking the time to visit with us, and we thank them for their hard work in the county! Check out our Photo Gallery for pictures.
GWS Students Participate in the "Read for the Record" Campaign
GWS students recently participated in the national "Read for the Record" campaign. Seventy-seven students participated in the international campaign that aims to bring preschool children together with valued grownups in their lives to read the same book, on the same day, in communities all over the world. The campaign helps to raise awareness of the importance of literacy skills. The book for this year was The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. The kids enjoyed the story, and the teachers developed classroom activities to expand upon the reading of the story. Thanks to Mr. Torres for spearheading the event. Check out our Photo Gallery for pictures from the event.
"Recycle Rewards
Program"
Our school is participating in the "Recycle Rewards" program this year. It
is an opportunity for us to earn funds by collecting used inkjet printer
cartridges, laser printer cartridges and cell phones from students, parents and
businesses. So drop off your old cartridges and cell phones by the front
office! You can learn more about this program by visiting
www.rrewards.com .
"Box Tops for
Education"
This year we we are collecting Box Tops for Education. For each Box Top we
collect, we will earn 10 cents. This can quickly add up! You can
help by clipping Box Tops and sending them to school with your child. We
will use proceeds from the Box Tops to purchase items to benefit the students of
Greenwood School. It's easy to help...Peek inside your pantry and you will
be surprised at how many General Mills products you buy on a routine basis that
contain a Box Top for Education. Visit the
Box Tops for
Education website for a list of participating
brands and products. Ask grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and
friends...even co-workers!... to help collect them. For more information
call
386-792-6590.
Thanks for your support!
